ECU is seeking a PhD candidate to undertake research in the School of Medical and Health Sciences.
This research will be conducted with our industry partner, Palmerston, a not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of services for people experiencing problems related to the use of alcohol and other drugs (AOD). Palmerston has been piloting aftercare support for people leaving residential AOD treatment services.
This research project aims to identify whether providing aftercare support during and after the transition back to the community can assist in improved treatment outcomes, reduced AOD use and improved social functioning. We are keen to understand what works, assess impact, outcomes and strengthen the evidence base to help shape policy and practice across Palmerston, the AOD sector and policy makers.
The candidate will be expected to enrol and commence in 2022.
Applicants should have knowledge and experience in the provision of public health care.
