For researchers

The ECU Cancer Blood Biomarkers Cohort Study holds blood components from patients with Melanoma, Uveal Melanoma, Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer, Ovarian Cancer and other solid malignancies including:

  • Plasma
  • Serum
  • Platelets
  • ctDNA extracted from blood
  • Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs)
  • DNA and RNA extracted from WBC Pellet
  • DNA and RNA extracted from Buffy coat
  • DNA and RNA extracted from tissue

The Study also holds well-annotated clinical and molecular data from these patients.

Please note that priority will be given to:

  • Requests from researchers affiliated with the ECU Centre for Precision Health or our clinicians involved in sample collection.
  • Applicants affiliated to academic institutions and hospitals in Western Australia.
  • Projects funded by the Future Health & Research Innovation fund (FHRI), Cancer Council of WA (CCWA) and the National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC).

We encourage investigators who are applying for funding to correspond with the Cancer Blood Biomarkers Cohort (CBBC) staff as early as possible to determine whether the CBBC has the specimens or clinical data they need.

Expression of Interest

Please submit an Expression of Interest by emailing the Cancer Blood Biomarkers Cohort Study Lead, Professor Elin Gray – e.gray@ecu.edu.au, with your request, including the following information:

  • Your name and affiliation (also name and primary affiliation of the lead investigator if not you).
  • Short research summary of your proposed work including the data or biosamples you would like to collect.
  • Type of project (e.g. grant application, student project, research proposal).
  • Confirm your preferred email address.

Next Steps

Once your request has been reviewed by the Study Lead, you will be informed if your request is suitable to proceed to the full application process, and a copy of the access procedure, policy and online form will be sent to you. Your application is then reviewed by the CBBC Scientific Management Committee, and if approved, a Materials Transfer Agreement (MTA) will be arranged, follow by shipping of samples or transfer of data.

We look forward to collaborating with you!
