ECU’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Partnerships) Professor Cobie Rudd addresses the audience at the 2019 WA HR Leadership Summit.
Edith Cowan University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Partnerships), Professor Cobie Rudd, was invited to present at the annual Business Insights Western Australian HR Leadership Summit. The 2019 WA conference was held in Perth on Tuesday and Wednesday, 27 & 28 August 2019 for over 100 human resources professionals.
Professor Rudd detailed ECU’s journey to gender equality and diversity, and provided insights from ECU’s involvement in the Athena SWAN Charter of Australia, led by Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE). She explained the two-and-a-half year intense period of data digitisation, data collection and analysis, consultation and reflection required. As well, she highlighted concurrent new initiatives being progressed as part of an organisational cultural change program at ECU that has led to the attainment of the Athena SWAN Bronze Institutional Award, currently the highest level of achievement possible in Australia.
The 2019 WA HR Leadership Summit provided an opportunity for professionals from across the human resources sector to hear from distinguished and experienced leaders, as they prepare their own organisations and people to adapt to evolving realities. Professor Rudd highlighted the importance that Human Resource leaders play, and the critical role they have to ensure employees are well-nurtured, supported and fully-engaged, as their workplace evolves.
The event also included presentations from a range of human resource and industry professionals, and similarly panel discussions were held that provided an opportunity for crowd participation as organisational leaders discussed key topics, including ‘leading people through change, leadership and collaboration’.
