School of Business and Law student Karleigh Barras is studying online in accelerated mode.
Karleigh Barras‘ decision to study at ECU was influenced by recommendations from her colleagues and friends.
‘They said that ECU put their students first and I felt that this would be the perfect environment for me to thrive in. This was certainly the case.’
Karleigh is now studying an Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) online in ‘intensive’ mode. Students can start and complete units when it suits them and study right throughout the year. A MHRM can be completed in one and a half rather than two years full time, and for those who don’t want to complete the full course immediately, they can graduate with a graduate diploma or graduate certificate.
Karleigh works full time in addition to being mother of two. She said she finds the intensive mode helpful.
‘To be able to study at my own speed has allowed me to learn better and quicker’ she said. ‘The information in the units is in line with real life case studies which help embed the information. And there are so many ways the information was delivered – through TED talks, podcasts, journals and guest speakers.’
My experience at ECU has been fantastic. I have had some great lecturers who show a passion for what they do, which in turn has ignited a passion in me for study and higher education.
‘University has taught me so much and provided me with the confidence to work in any organisation and be able to provide a valuable contribution to their strategic objectives.
‘As a result of my confidence and work ethic, I have been approached by employers and offered many job opportunities in the past year. I believe this is a direct result of my study at ECU.’
‘I have made wonderful friends at ECU who are thriving too and it’s great watching their successes.’
