The Leadership, People & Enterprise (LPE) Research Cluster brings together a team of active scholars across three complementary areas of existing research strength in the Management Discipline: leadership, human resource management, and enterprise studies that include strategy, innovation, and international business. The LPE also supports adjacent work in entrepreneurship, governance, and organisational management where these intersect with leadership, people, and enterprise-related challenges.
The focus is on producing engaged applied research, developing a productive and collaborative research culture, and translating Cluster research contributions for industry and the public. These endeavours advance ECU values of rational enquiry and progress SBL toward Strategic Priorities Goal 2: Undertaking impactful world-class research.
The LPE covers FoR codes 3507 and 3505, with particular strengths in leadership, organisational behaviour, human resource management, strategy, innovation, and international business. These areas share strong conceptual connections across individual, team, organisational, and cross-border contexts; it therefore makes sense to work together as a larger group with three specific research themes. Our projects examine issues across micro, meso, and macro levels of analysis, linking individual and team processes with organisational, industry, and international outcomes.
The leadership theme approaches research from an organisational behaviour perspective and focuses on attributes, processes, behaviours, and outcomes within and between individuals, groups, and organisations. The LPE brings a leadership lens to major topics in organisational behaviour, focusing on contemporary leadership models that are authentic, inclusive, and resilient.
The human resource management theme focuses on understanding, identifying, and improving the effectiveness of HR practices to support strategic organisational goals, promote development, and enhance individual performance, attitudes, and well-being.
The enterprise theme focuses on strategy, innovation, and international business, including how organisations create, adapt, and sustain value in dynamic environments through strategic decision-making, innovation processes, capability development, and engagement across global markets.
