Kirsten is a Lecturer in Mathematics at the School of Education.
Kirsten is an experienced educator having taught at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. She has been a classroom teacher at all levels of primary school and taught Mathematics at secondary school up to year 12. Given that her teaching experiences spans all year levels, Kirsten has an excellent working knowledge of the progression of mathematics learning, relevant pedagogy for each stage of development and the misconceptions which may arise during the course of teaching and learning. Kirsten commenced with ECU in 2013 as a Practicum Supervisor and moved into a Mathematics education lecturing role in 2015. Kirsten is the unit coordinator of the third year mathematics unit as part of the Bachelor of Education (Primary). She also lectures/tutors in the first and second year B.Ed (Primary) Mathematics units; and the Master of Teaching Mathematics and curriculum/assessment units.
