Celebrating Trailblazers: ECU’s proud history with WA Women’s Hall of Fame

Visitors to Edith Cowan House on ECU’s Joondalup Campus are invited to step into a powerful celebration of leadership, courage and change through the WA Women’s Hall of Fame Exhibition.  Hosted in the former home of Edith Cowan herself, the exhibition honours her remarkable legacy and the enduring contributions of women across Western Australia.

As an inaugural inductee into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame in 2011, Edith Cowan’s influence continues to resonate. The exhibition not only reflects her pioneering advocacy and leadership but also underscores Edith Cowan University’s deep and ongoing connection to her vision for equity, education and social progress.

Alongside Cowan’s story, the exhibition showcases distinguished inductees from across the state whose achievements span social, cultural and community life. Many ECU‑connected inductees have built a legacy of courageous leadership and lasting social change, standing as powerful role models within our university community and beyond.

Learn more about the latest trailblazers by exploring the biographies of the 2026 inductees online.

WA Women’s Hall of Fame

Established in 2011 to mark the Centenary of International Women’s Day, the WA Women’s Hall of Fame celebrates the remarkable diversity of women across Western Australia and honours their enduring contributions to community life.

Edith Cowan University is a proud partner of the WA Women’s Hall of Fame, with strong connections to many distinguished inductees, including its namesake – the first woman elected to an Australian Parliament. She was joined that year by former ECU Chancellor Denise Goldsworthy AO, followed by the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC in 2015. In 2023, ECU Deputy Vice‑Chancellor (Regional Futures) and Vice‑President Professor Cobie Rudd was inducted, alongside several notable ECU alumnae recognised over the past 15 years.
