Celebrating Western Australia’s inspiring women: ECU hosts the WA Women’s Hall of Fame 2026 Travelling Exhibition

Edith Cowan University (ECU) is proud to host the WA Women’s Hall of Fame (WAWHOF) Travelling Exhibition, showcasing the achievements of women who have made a significant contribution to Western Australia.

Each year, the WA Women’s Hall of Fame celebrates outstanding women whose leadership, innovation and service have enriched communities across the State. The exhibition highlights the stories and achievements of the 2026 inductees, alongside women recognised in the Roll of Honour.

ECU officially partnered with the WAWHOF on International Women’s Day in 2020 and proudly sponsors the Education category. Through this partnership, the University continues to support the recognition and celebration of women’s achievements across diverse fields, including community, business, health, education, arts, culture, STEM and sport.

Staff are encouraged to visit the exhibition, on display in the Building 32 Foyer, Joondalup Campus, from 7 September to 24 September 2026. The exhibition provides an opportunity to learn more about the remarkable women whose contributions have helped shape Western Australia.

A commemorative booklet, detailing the achievements of each honoured woman, is also available to accompany the exhibition.

Collaboration with the Children’s University

In 2026, the WA Women’s Hall of Fame Travelling Exhibition will once again serve as a recognised learning destination for the Children’s University, inspiring school students through the stories and achievements of influential Western Australian women. The partnership encourages curiosity, lifelong learning and conversations about gender equity, while highlighting the significant contributions women make across all areas of society. The collaboration is particularly meaningful, as ECU introduced Children’s University to Western Australia in 2017.

WA Women’s Hall of Fame

Established in 2011 to mark the Centenary of International Women’s Day, the WAWHOF serves as an incredible record of WA women and their diverse lives and commitment to enriching the lives of others across the State.

ECU has several notable connections through its distinguished inductees, including:

Edith Dircksey Cowan: an inaugural 2011 inductee being ECU’s namesake and Australian’s first elected female parliamentarian;
Denise Goldsworthy AO: 2011 inductee and former ECU Chancellor;
The Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC: 2015 inductee and former ECU Chancellor; and
Professor Cobie Rudd: 2023 inductee and ECU’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Regional Futures) and Vice-President.
