Katie is a Lecturer and the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Secondary Education Co-ordinator in the School of Education.

Background

Katie is a passionate and skilled HASS educator, having taught for more than 20 years in Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) schools. She has experience teaching upper school HASS courses including, Economics, Politics and Law and Career and Enterprise. In 2020, Katie was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Edith Cowan University (ECU). The title of her thesis was Lower secondary students’ perspectives towards Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) at three Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) schools. It reported on a comprehensive study, using mixed-methods research, to explore dimensions of teaching and student learning in HASS at three metropolitan CEWA schools. Katie is a committee member of the ECU Education Alumni Chapter.
