The Library maintains a high-quality selection of online databases containing relevant, wide-ranging information sources for research and the range of ECU curriculum.

Through recent updates and acquisitions thousands of new sources are now available to the ECU community.

Techstreet and Engineering Workbench: Accessing Australian and International Standards

Techstreet and Engineering Workbench are ECU’s new online databases for accessing Australian and international standards and replace SAI Global.

Accessing Australian standards is easy when you set up a registered Techstreet account, which allows you to maintain your access and download the standard onto multiple devices. Use the tip sheet we’ve prepared for account set up information.

Engineering Workbench (EWB) is ECU’s online database for accessing international standards (e.g. ISO). The EWB tip sheet will take you through account set up and access.

AVON and ProQuestOne Academic

Academic Video Online (AVON) is one of four ProQuest databases, and delivers over 70,000 video titles covering anthropology, business, counselling, film, health, history, music and more. AVON is a new resource which builds on existing video libraries in InformitEDuTV and InformitTV News.

Get started with AVON.

Proquest One Academic is the new unified search interface for the four Proquest databases. This one-stop gateway provides users with a single search interface to access content from:

  • AVON
  • Proquest Central
  • Ebook Central
  • Proquest Dissertations & Theses Global

Access to the world’s largest newspaper database

Subscriptions to Newsbank databases provide:

  • increased access to credible, vetted world news sources
  • user-friendly interfaces
  • the ability to customise searches, set alerts and set automatic downloads for latest editions

Newsbank’s Access World News Research Collection includes current and archived news content from more than 12,000 sources from over 200 countries and replaces Factiva. Content comprises full-text articles, web-only content and PDF image editions.

Access is additional to news resources available through Proquest Central.

For best practice, the News and Current Affairs Library Guide can help you critically evaluate news sources.

New interfaces – Westlaw and Informit

The updated Westlaw platform incorporates natural language search functionality, a re-named case citator – KeyCite – and access to International Materials through one interface.

The interactive Informit interface makes searching simple whether by citation, keyword or ISBN. Informit contains an extensive range of subject-based databases featuring Australian and global content.
