Our team are highlighting features of Library resources that provide an accessible experience for our users, and this week we’ve focussed on ProQuest databases.

ProQuest’s Accessibility Statement state that they strive to meet and maintain W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and various other accessibility Standards, Acts and Directives, and that efforts are made to ensure that its platforms – including eBook Central – can be used by everyone.

Some of the ProQuest accessibility standards and features include:

  • magnification features
  • various colour, contrast, and font options
  • a user interface that is operable with multiple input mechanisms such as alternative keyboard designs and joy sticks
  • accessibility of various formats including EPUB and HTML and various content types in text, image, video and audio form
  • screen reader and text to speech support
  • image descriptions and metadata for assistive technologies

ECU staff and students can access ProQuest resources in the Library’s A-Z list of databases.
