There’s plenty of space at the Library to hold effective study sessions, whether you study best on your own or with classmates.

Our online services are available throughout study week as well, so whether you’re on or off campus, make the most of Library resources to prepare for your exams.

Read on for some tips below.

Campus Library features

  • We’re open late!

Our opening hours don’t change during study week; we’re open our usual hours on both weekdays and weekends. At Joondalup Library, you can use your ECU ID card to gain 24/7 swipe card access to levels 1 and 2.

  • We have a huge range of study spaces

Each Campus Library is different, but they all offer a range of study spaces to suit both private and group study.

These include booths, desks, high tables, carrels and comfortable chairs and couches.

There’s a variety of screens and whiteboards dotted around the spaces, for enhanced group study.

  • Power and wi-fi

Lots of our study spots are set up with power so you can charge up your devices, and, if others are using the power outlets, we’ve got mini charging stations at each Library.

And of course you can connect to the ECU wi-fi network, so your internet is covered!

  • Book a study room

Book a room ahead of time for some extra privacy for solo or group study, using our easy online booking system.

  • Nourish yourself!

Bring your brain food - you can eat and drink in the Library (just not near the computers)!

There are kitchen facilities - including microwaves and cold water refill stations - in the Library (or just near the Library, for the South West Campus).

You’ll find snacks, drinks and sundry items available in the vending machines.

  • Library staff

Staff are available by phone, email, and in-person at the Library service desks during opening hours.

They specialise in helping you find resources, and can refer your complex queries to Librarians and other services.

  • Canvas Champions available

Canvas Champions will also be available online and on campus during study week, to help you navigate ECU’s newest learning platform.

  • High Use Collection

This collection features textbooks and recommended readings; these resources are available for short-term loan, designed to be used within each Campus Library.

  • Sleep pods at Joondalup

Find two peaceful sleeping pods on level 1 at Joondalup, for when you just need some sleep!

Exam preparation resources

The Academic Skills Essentials Library Guide Exam preparation page has some handy information and strategies for getting prepared for exams, including a preparation checklist.

ECU Librarians have curated a series of videos relating to managing stress during exam time, called ‘Managing Student Stress’. You can watch them in order, or just watch the ones you’re interested in. To easily access the videos, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your student portal
  • Choose LinkedIn Learning from ‘Easy logins’
  • Use your ECU credentials to log in, if prompted
  • Choose ‘My Learning’ from the top toolbar
  • Go to ‘Recommended from Edith Cowan University’ in the toolbar
  • Find and watch the video series titled ‘Managing Student Stress’

You can also use ECU Library search to find titles in the Library collection containing information on mindfulness, relaxation, stress management, study techniques and more.
