Knowing how to use the Library effectively can make your studies easier.

Your current mood

You’re back from a busy mid-semester break.

You’re halfway through the semester and things are heating up.

Your juggling skills are nearing expert level as assignment due dates and exams get closer.

Coffee and long study sessions are becoming your new best friends.

Use the Library - it's here to support you

It’s helpful to keep a calm mind when approaching exams and assignments, and ECU has a wonderful network of services available to its students, offering support across a range of areas.

Library - key areas of support

Some of the key areas the Library offers support for are:

  • developing effective academic research skills
  • using ECU learning technologies to participate in classes and assignments effectively eg Canvas, Panopto, Pebblepad
  • searching for and evaluating academic sources for study and assignments
  • keeping track of your sources
  • developing referencing skills

How we do this

Because every student has their own unique life circumstances, we offer multiple levels of support and a range of ways to access help.

  • Library website

You can make your own way around our website to discover all the great services and facilities available.

This is also where you search the Library Collections to find academic sources (eBooks, journal articles etc).

Visit the Library website.

  • Library peer support

Fellow students are online and on campus to help answer Library queries and learning technology questions.

Visit our peer support web page.

  • Enquiry desk support

Getting in touch by email, phone or at one of our service desks means you can have your questions answered or referred. We’re usually pretty fast, too!

Find the range of ways you can get in touch by visiting our contact web page.

  • Librarian support

You can attend a drop-in session, a Library workshop or book a one-to-one appointment with a Librarian who is trained in digital and information literacy for the academic world.

For example, you can access support for:

  • developing effective academic research skills
  • referencing using APA
  • EndNote & referencing tools
  • legal citation for law (AGLC4)
  • learning technologies
  • PebblePad: online portfolios
  • Panopto: editing videos

Visit our Library workshops web page for more details.

  • Online resources

Library Guides help you navigate your way through the sea of information that’s available to you.
