LibKey Nomad: Easier Access to Full-Text Articles

LibKey Nomad is a free browser extension that helps you access full-text journal articles through ECU Library, without needing to go through extra logins or multiple pages.

Once installed, LibKey Nomad works in the background while you browse research sites like Google Scholar, PubMed, Wikipedia, or publisher websites. When ECU has access to an article, it adds a direct link to the full text—saving you time and helping you avoid paywalls.

So far this year, ECU users have accessed more than 170,000 full-text articles using LibKey integration. It’s one of several tools supported by ECU Library to help make research smoother and more accessible.

Key Features

  • Quick access to PDFs from supported sites.
  • Works with popular platforms like PubMed, Scopus, EBSCO, ProQuest, and more.
  • Integrated with ECU Library Search, offering a “View PDF” option when available.
  • Alerts for retracted articles, supporting responsible research.
  • Available for most browsers including Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Who it’s useful for

  • Students: Helps avoid paywalls and find accessible versions of articles while browsing online.
  • Researchers: Offers a smoother way to access journal content using ECU’s subscriptions.
  • Academic and professional staff: Supports efficient access to reliable sources, including retraction notifications.
