Temporary Disruptions to Library Collections: 26–30 May

Tuesday, 20 May 2025

Tags:

As part of the ECU City transition, the Library’s City Campus Transitions Team will lead a Move Pilot from Monday, 26 May to Friday, 30 May 2025.

This move allows us to test transport logistics, shelving setup, and how users navigate the collection—important groundwork for the new ECU City campus.

What’s happening?

Library books in the Dewey Decimal range 000–369 are being relocated from Mount Lawley Library to Joondalup Library.

Professional removalists will pack books at Mount Lawley each morning from 8:00 am. Deliveries will arrive at Joondalup in the afternoon, where Library staff will shelve them.

This move will allow us to test the transport process, shelving logistics, and how systems are updated—important steps in planning for the new ECU City campus.

Temporary Impacts on Library Collections

Shelving relocation will impact portions of the Library collection located on:

  • Level 3 at Joondalup Campus Library
  • Level 4 at Mount Lawley Campus Library

You may notice some general noise from trolley movement, packing, and shelving throughout the week and certain sections of the collection will be temporarily inaccessible.

Unaffected Library Services

Library services remain fully operational:

  • Study desks will stay open for use at both campuses
  • Fire escapes and toilets will remain accessible

At Joondalup, library staff will do their best to keep trolleys out of main pathways and noise to a minimum.

Looking for a quiet space?

If you’re affected by noise or disruption during this time, Silent Study Rooms are available:

  • Mount Lawley: Silent Study Room 8.306 (Level 3)
  • Joondalup: Silent Rooms 31.315, 31.327-331 (Level 3)

You can also book a solo or group study room at both campuses.

Need help?

Library staff will be working throughout the week to transfer books efficiently — both on the shelves and in the online system.

If you’re at Mount Lawley and need a book that’s already been moved, we’ll be happy to help you access it. Just speak to a staff member or contact library@ecu.edu.au.

For any questions or accessibility needs, we’re here to support you.
