Following strong interest from ECU researchers in recent years, Read & Publish Agreements have been renegotiated and will continue into 2026.
In 2025, the agreements supported the Open Access publication of approximately 572 papers by ECU researchers, saving an estimated AUD $3 million in Article Processing Charges (APCs) and increasing the accessibility and impact of ECU research.
These agreements allow ECU authors to publish Open Access in eligible journals without paying APCs. To be eligible, the corresponding author must submit using an ECU email address.
This year’s agreements were secured after robust negotiations across the Australian university sector, led by the Council of Australasian University Librarians (CAUL) and involving senior university executives. The agreements continue to evolve, with small updates introduced each year to improve publishing opportunities for researchers.
