Changes to ProQuest eBook downloads

Tuesday, 14 July 2026

Tags:

From 16 July 2026, changes to ProQuest Ebook Central will affect how some eBooks are downloaded for offline reading.

eBooks with download restrictions will now open using Ebook Central Reader. These titles will no longer open in Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) if downloaded after this date.

If you download one of these eBooks, you may be prompted to install and register Ebook Central Reader on your device.

There is no change to accessing or reading ProQuest eBooks online. You can continue to read eBooks in your browser without installing additional software.

What you need to know

If you read eBooks online only, no action is required.

If you download eBooks for offline reading, you will need to:

  • install Ebook Central Reader on your device
  • open downloaded eBooks using Ebook Central Reader

For more information, refer to the ProQuest installation guidelines or walkthrough video.

If you require further assistance,  please contact your friendly Library team.
