STEM Out of the Box Wind Turbine Technology at home
The Children’s University Western Australia Partnership (CUWAP) delivered jointly by Edith Cowan University and The University of Western Australia successfully developed and hosted an innovative STEM Out of Box initiative to nine CU partner schools across regional Great Southern, South-west, Peel and Perth.
A total of 180 STEM kits filled with three hands-on activities (total of 540 activity packs) were provided to children and their families allowing them to engage in fun STEM leaning at home specifically exploring the subjects of renewable energy, physics and biology.
In addition, all families from those nine schools were invited to participate in an exciting, interactive STEM online learning experience. Here, the families met University Academic Dr Julie Boston from Edith Cowan University who presented the online workshop offering her teaching expertise in Science and STEM.
The aim of this CUWAP initiative was to ignite a passion and curiosity for STEM beyond the classroom and into the broader community.
The STEM kits and online workshop was very well received as children who participated shared their feedback:
Partner schools also expressed gratitude for families being provided with this STEM engagement opportunity.
Thank you to Inspiring Western Australia and Scitech for the funding contribution and to the nine CU Partner schools, 180 children and families who participated in this wonderful event.
