Professor David Gilchrist, UWA and Dr Sarah Jefferson, ECU
The School of Education was delighted to welcome a presentation from UWA’s Professor David Gilchrist the founder and director of the Centre for Public Value at UWA and Co-Convenor of UWA Australian Studies Research Network. Co-chaired by Dr Sarah Jefferson, ECU academic, UWA adjunct scholar and member of the Centre for Public Value, the presentation provided an overview of its establishment. Professor Gilchrist provided an insightful outline of the charity and non-profit organisations sector, the streams of research currently being undertaken and highlighted the prospects for meaningful and impactful research in the area of systemic improvement focusing on policy and practice.
The not-for-profit and charitable sector underpin many of our community's services and supports, including a significant contribution to Education, Aged Care and the National Disability Insurance Scheme historically and contemporarily. From a scholarly perspective, these sectors represent significant opportunities for research, especially in respect to the relationship between government and the various sectors. This presentation is part of an ongoing collaboration between ECU and UWA and aims to ensure the development of meaningful and impactful research in the area of systemic improvement focusing on policy and practice.
