Project title:

  • What makes an exemplary infant-toddler teacher? Describing exemplary infant-toddler teaching in Australian Long Day Care Settings

Supervisors:

  • Associate Professor Lennie Barblett
  • Associate Professor Marianne Knaus

Summary of thesis:

One in three infants and toddlers now attend formal early childhood education and care during a period where rapid brain development occurs (ABS, 2017). Whilst significant reforms have prioritised children’s health and wellbeing during the first 1,000 days of life, little attention has been afforded to infant-toddler teachers. This project will investigate the knowledge and practices of exemplary infant-toddler teachers in the provision of quality Early Childhood Education and Care.
