Summary of thesis:

This Deweyan, mixed methods study investigated the experiences of volunteer tutors teaching English as an additional language to adult refugees to devise, implement and evaluate a training program designed to meet the needs of both tutors and their learners. The study investigated the roles that the content taught, and strategies used to implement the training program played in changing tutor thinking and behaviour, as well as its appropriateness for the learning community.
