  • An Exploration of Virtual Reality to Facilitate Authentic Tasks in EFL Learning in a Vietnamese Tertiary Setting

Summary of thesis:

The study explored the synergy of task-based language teaching and virtual reality in enhancing an authentic learning environment for English learners in higher education in Vietnam. The data revealed some key findings: VR-integrated tasks enhanced task authenticity and led to perceived improvements in students’ language development, ICT skills, knowledge of the world and culture, engagement and motivation in learning. The study adds new insight into the use of an immersive mobile technology in English teaching and learning which assists foreign language education in Vietnam and other similar contexts.
