Project title:

  • Exploring the role of school culture and leadership in fostering adolescent social emotional development

Supervisors:

  • Associate Professor Glenda Campbell-Evans
  • Honorary Associate Professor Jan Gray

Summary of thesis:

This study explored how leaders in three Perth high schools foster adolescent social emotional development, and the role that school culture may play. Preliminary findings indicate despite efforts of high school leaders, adolescents are facing academic and social pressures at school that impact upon their ability to focus on their schooling. The PhD study findings may support the enactment of effective leadership that fosters adolescent social emotional development within the high school setting.
