Summary of thesis:

This mixed methods research study sets out an opportunity to explore parental experiences and perceptions in using a new literacy-based text messaging program, Kindytxt. This study is underpinned by a sociocultural theoretical perspective, which emphasises the physical and social relationship between human beings and their environment, to gain knowledge on how this program may influence parent literacy practices with their kindergarten aged child.
