Project title:

  • Creativity and creative pedagogies in practice in visual arts at secondary schools: A case study of Sekondi-Takoradi in Ghana

Supervisors:

  • Dr Julia Morris
  • Associate Professor Geoff Lummis
  • Associate Professor Andy Jones

Summary of thesis:

Creativity has received unprecedented global attention in the educational space. Ghana’s 2019 National Pre-tertiary Curriculum Framework has highlighted creativity as an aim and aspiration. Although it has received a plethora of research globally, the situation in the Ghanaian context is the contrary. In this qualitative case study, I am investigating teachers’ perceptions and understanding of creativity and how they integrate creative pedagogies in the teaching-learning process in the secondary visual arts programme in Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana.
