Service centres

Service centres

ECU is a large, multi-campus institution offering a vibrant research culture and a unique teaching and learning environment. With over 27,000 domestic and international students, we are committed to breaking down barriers to education and are considered a pioneer in alternative entry pathways to education, helping more Western Australians reach their potential.

Our organisation is structured by administrative service centres that guide and support our schools, research centres, teachers, students and the communities we serve, under the governance of our University Council. Visit our service centres to discover how they contribute to the ECU experience.

Centre for Learning and Development

The Centre for Learning and Development provide a variety of services to our teaching, learning and staff communities such as staff development opportunities, teaching technologies, student preparation for university courses and expert advice on teaching and learning.

Facilities and Services

The Facilities and Services Centre provide an on and off-campus facilities management service right across our campuses for everything from new buildings, space management, leasing, cleaning, grounds and maintenance to fleet management, security and traffic services to student housing, sports and recreation, food services and The Co-Op Shop.

Finance and Business Services

Our Finance and Business team provide a valued financial management service ensuring we operate with effective governance and financial integrity.

Graduate Research School

Our Graduate Research School offers support and services to research masters and doctoral students, their supervisors and faculties. We aim to enhance the quality of the research experience by providing training, peer-to-peer support and promoting research culture through seminars, academic events and social activities.

Human Resources Service

HR defines the University’s staffing practices that help staff with activities including recruitment and appointment, staff planning, employee relations and performance improvement, setting pay, benefits and conditions and ensuring our work environment is safe and productive.

Information Technology Services

The Information Technology Service Centre (ITSC) supports the day-to-day activities of students, staff and researchers here at ECU by providing email services, access to information systems using secure computer and communication networks and facilities such as teaching labs, student eLabs, multimedia equipment hire, wireless connections, and technical help via IT Service Desk.

International Office

The International Office leads international strategy development for the University and is responsible for establishing the direction of key international business links and leading the management of academic partner relationships. The Office works closely with the Faculties and Services Centres to achieve the strategic objectives of the University.

Kurongkurl Katitjin

Kurongkurl Katitjin is our Centre for Indigenous Australian Education and Research. The Centre plays a vital role in assisting ECU to meet its commitment to Indigenous peoples, supporting University-wide activities and programs, as well as activities specific to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their cultures.

Library Services

The Library provides services for students and staff – both on and offshore, alumni and community networks. Use the Library One Search and subject databases for access to books, journal articles and other materials for your studies and research, and get support for assignments and research via workshops, tutorials and individual assistance.

Marketing and Communications Services

The Marketing and Communications Centre develops and implements the University's Marketing and Communications Plan, as well as managing key public relations functions. Key responsibilities of the Centre include brand development and management, advertising and promotions, public relations and corporate communications, corporate events, online marketing & web design, student recruitment and sponsorships.

Office of Governance Services

The Office of Governance Services oversees the University’s governance framework and comprises Council and committee support, University-wide records management, student complaints, and communication with the ECU Student Guild.

Office of Development and Alumni Relations

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations is responsible for building and maintaining life-long, mutually beneficial relations with ECU's alumni and community partners including achieving philanthropic and 'in-kind' support. The Office is responsible for supporting alumni as individuals and groups, encouraging their participation in the life of the University and securing financial support for ECU's strategic priorities.

Office of Legal Services

The Office of Legal Services is the University’s internal legal office. It provides a comprehensive legal service to the University. The primary role of the office is to ensure that the management and staff of the University are sufficiently well advised and informed of legal requirements and issues in order to maximize the quality of decision making within the University and to protect its resources and reputation.

Office of Research and Innovation

The Office of Research and Innovation plays a crucial role in facilitating our research outcomes by providing staff with assistance in identifying funding opportunities through to submitting grant applications. The Innovation arm of the Office assists researchers in assessing their inventions for commercial potential and providing guidance on commercialising their inventions.

Planning, Quality and Equity Services

The Planning, Quality and Equity Services Centre provides support for ECU’s: strategic planning and positioning; operational planning; performance reporting; survey and evaluation activities; quality improvement processes; academic governance; and engagement activities.

The Centre helps ECU achieve its Purpose by: undertaking institutional research and engaging with government and stakeholders to position and develop the University; maintaining ECU’s Planning, Performance Indicator and Excellence  frameworks; providing strategic and operational support for the University’s engagement agenda; and overseeing the University’s  academic governance processes.

Risk and Assurance Services

As a service to ECU, Risk and Assurance Service Centre (RASC) provides the University with an independent and value adding quality assurance function in respect of control, compliance, risk management and business continuity.

Student Services

Student Services provide administrative and support services to students, staff and external customers of ECU. They respond to and assist with student enquiries, admission applications, enrolments, fees and scholarships, timetabling, and health services including counselling and careers.
